Zika is caused by the Zika virus and is mainly spread by infected Aedes mosquitoes.
Many people have mild symptoms or none at all. When symptoms occur, they may include fever, rash, red eyes, joint pain, and headache.
Why should pregnant women pay special attention?
Zika infection during pregnancy can cause serious complications for the developing baby, including congenital Zika syndrome.
